About

Alejandra Regalado is a multidisciplinary artist based in Houston, Tx working across photography, video, performance, sculpture, and installation. Originally from Mexico City, her work reflects the diverse landscapes and cultures she has encountered through years of living in various cities and towns, both in Mexico and the United States. From New York City to the natural sanctity of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve in the Yucatán Peninsula, Regalado’s practice is deeply informed by her immersion in the environments where she resides. This engagement with place—its history, people, and ecosystems—shapes her approach to art, where site and context become integral to her creative process.

She received a Bachelor of Arts in History of Art from the Universidad Iberoamericana and a Master of Science in Science Communication from the Tec de Monterrey, México, as well as a Master of Professional Studies in Digital Photography from School of Visual Arts, New York. Her work has been shown in galleries and festivals across the U.S. and México. She has been awarded the Individual Artist Grant from the New York State Council on the Arts, and First Place in Professional Photography at the Festival Internacional de la Imagen, México. Regalado has also participated as an artist in residence of the Galería de la Raza, San Francisco, the National Museum of Mexican Art, Chicago, and most recently exhibited her work as part of the New York Latin American Art Triennial and the Texas Biennial.
