Alejandra Regalado
Alejandra Regalado is a multidisciplinary artist based in Houston, TX, working across
photography, video, and mixed media. Her practice explores the intersection of
body, memory, and place, shaped by her experiences with chronic pain and
sleeplessness. She investigates how the body holds personal and collective
memory, challenging static ideas of identity and belonging.
Alejandra approaches the concept of home as both a personal
journey and a political act—one shaped by resistance, memory, and
transformation. Her immersive connection with place, from the urban
environments of New York City to the natural landscapes of the Yucatán
Peninsula, plays a central role in her work.
Her art has been exhibited at institutions including the National Museum of Mexican Art, CUE Art Foundation, Houston Center for Photography, Galería de la Raza, Colegio de México, and Big Medium. She has received
multiple grants and awards, including recognition in the Texas Biennial and New York
Latin American Art Triennial.
